Google is testing a rebuilt Business Profile report. Save your baselines before the numbers move.

Short answer: Google is testing a rebuilt performance report inside Business Profiles, with tabs for engagement, reviews, search trends and audience. Nobody knows if or when it reaches every account. Export your current numbers this week, so a layout change can't break the month over month story you tell clients. (Search Engine Roundtable, Barry Schwartz, Oct 23, 2026)
TLDR
- What changed: a test of a new GBP performance report, seen by two people, not confirmed for rollout.
- Why it matters: when metric groupings move, last month's report stops matching this month's.
- What to do: export baselines for every client location before the end of October.
What is Google testing in the Business Profile report?
Search Engine Roundtable reported on Oct 23, 2026 that Google is testing "a completely revamped performance report section" with metrics on engagement, reviews, search trends and audience, plus top recommendations and a more detailed reviews view. Barry Schwartz wrote that he did not see it on his own account. Two people sent him screenshots: Jaikishan Raturi of Wisevu and Syed Amir. (SER, Oct 23, 2026)
That is two sightings. Treat it as a test.
Is this the same as the new Google Business home?
No. One day earlier, on Oct 22, 2026, Search Engine Roundtable covered a new Google Business Home portal. Schwartz said the report test is different from that portal and partly overlaps it. (SER, Oct 22 and Oct 23, 2026)
Why should an agency care about a test?
Because your client report is a comparison. If Google regroups the metrics, the line you drew last month may not exist next month. Google's own help page lets you set a date range and download Performance data for several profiles at once from Business Profile Manager. That download is your baseline. What should I export this week?
For every client location:
- In Business Profile Manager, select the client's profiles, choose Actions, Insights, set the widest timeframe it allows and click Download Report.
- Export or screenshot interactions: calls, website clicks, direction requests, bookings and chats where shown.
- Save the searches report with the top search terms.
- Record review count and average rating by hand. It takes one line in a sheet.
- Store it in one folder per client, named with the export date.
How do I explain a layout change to a client?
Tell them before it happens. One sentence in this month's report works: "Google is testing a new Business Profile report. We saved your numbers as of October so we can compare cleanly if the layout changes."
My take: warn them before it ships.
What is the cost of waiting?
If the new report reaches your accounts and the old view goes, you lose the clean before and after. Then the first report under the new layout opens with an explanation instead of a result.
Next step
Who: the account manager on each local client. What: export the baseline set above. How: use the five-step list, one folder per client, then add the one-line note to the next report.
